Monday Read: ?

Your face was turned away from me, rain was pouring down harder now as you walked away leaving me standing there on my own. For the first time I could not see the emotion in your eyes or read you like the book I understood and knew so well. How did it happen? How did it come to this? The black cloth of lies that hung between us for so long was finally torn leaving the truth unraveling in the wind. I never meant for it to happen but this road, the road i have walked smiling so many times before was beginning to fill with the filth of the rain creating puddles of thick mud. Just like that you disappeared, just like that you were gone and the days that were filled with sunshine became cold and dark.

Names and faces does not matter, I have seen so many staring back at me. Every new mission brought a new identity, every identity programmed with a past, a future, hopes and dreams. The more I do for them, the more I end up not knowing who I am anymore. I fear I will wake up one day and remain a Jake or a Andrew, some box filled with a lie of who I am not. I don't know how you did it, I am not suppose to feel, not suppose to remember but you hacked the program, you brought out a part of the real me. I wish now I could just have told you about who I was and not the fake hired to bring you in. You walked away because I betrayed you, I handed you over to them. I don't know where you are no but I know you wont remember. Once you have the D.O.D device it owns you and not the other way around. Yes I wish this was some film; you talked so much about them; but the truth is this is real. If we don't make the changes to yesterday and tomorrow today will remain the same.

I hope our paths cross again somewhere in time. For now I must begin a new chapter, betray someone else, wake them up and tell them who they really are.

As for you I will never forget or will I ? Will this even make sense when I see it later?

"So is that it?"
"Im afraid so mam," a young man replied dressed in black and white armor. A red dragon filled his chest piece, flying high in an open sky protecting that which lay below.
"I want you to find him, I don't care what it takes but we cant lose him, reset his D.O.D device if you have to but bring him home," Thena said worried pacing up and down.

To be continued...

Darkness of a Man

Tired he walked, kicking ground, ground that bared no fruit. Looking at the miles of land ahead, the image was the same. He remembered the picture he had painted so long ago, the family, the farmhouse and the greenest land with orchards tall, as far as the eye could see.

Memories haunted as the sand swirled up with particles of a past better left alone, a picture burnt with a hellish fire, destroyed by man on uncertain time. .

Tired he sat, shaded by a tree, a tree with a wooden swing. a swing missing and out of time, for the pink ribbons had faded and the feelings it provided was no longer there. Tired his tears began to fall, dust and emotion combined, mud within a river dripping down.

Tired he sat, clothes of white had turned to red,  fire burning coals of anger, his tears had come to late, was it fate that brought him here, carried from far away for the evil inside to sing, sing a song of pain to bring.

Burning picture contained it all, the story, how it happened and more, for in the night tired he came to the farmhouse up for sale,   the painting was just a bad dream standing on the ground, protected for the journey ahead, something another one would find. Drink of plenty soothing his mind he thought, filling it instead with sadness and despair, he can give them nothing as this failure of a man.

Tired he ran from the calls of punishment for under the fire in the soil his act remained, a  memory he would always have of the farmhouse, the family and the barest land.

As he stopped later far from the smoke and punishment that would come, punishment of his own he had sitting with his gun, clothes that had turned from white to red, battle of scratch marks his body said... one pink, one purple ribbon  and a silver necklace in his hand he had to decide, should this be the end?

Doors and Keys

We were so stupid back then. Can you remember?  Now we find ourselves back here, back in this creaky run down house in the middle of the forest where it all started. When we found it we just had to open it to see what was inside, the warning on the wooden box clearly did not stop us. As we opened it, all expecting the priceless gems or coins of gold just waiting for us. Instead we discovered a key, a key that could fit into each closed door in the house. Some doors were white, others were yellow, doors like a rainbow spread out far and wide.
We opened the first of the doors discovering a messy bed made out of wood and a red cape thrown over the chair. As the room revealed nothing exciting we walked towards another door and without hesitation unlocked it. Expecting more we were disappointed to find just a spinning wheel in the middle of the room so we left and sighed looking at each other

As we reached our third door a faint whisper came from the  unlocked door where we started, it was clear that someone was trying to conceal their voice, it was calling for us. A few ignored it and ran to help. As the key turned on the next door a loud thump sounded from the second room like someone falling on the floor with the noise of the spinning wheel repeating itself over and over.  We heard a soft call for help but some of us ignored it, we wanted to see more, as much as we could. Opening our third door we finally found something, an old woman walking around with a basket of apples. She approached and offered us some with a tempting voice and attitude, many took and stayed behind while the rest of us carried on.

The fourth door led us to a wooden box, the warning on it did not bother us, we just had to see what was inside. Expecting to find gems and gold all we discovered was another key and looking around us more doors, each one a different color. We were so stupid back then. Can you remember? We opened ourselves up to danger and lost a few, a prick on a finger turned into obsession with the outside, and the old woman lured us to her with the taste of sweet poisoned apples. Now we have another key, another chance to open some doors, maybe one of them will lead us out of here, climbing hair of gold to safety, a dragon to cleanse this house.

This is no fairy tale but we often think of it as one, we open one door to see what is inside and before we notice we had opened another. One door always leads to another. Whether it takes you to an evil wolf or pretty princess, even an old woman with hidden intentions, rather try and choose your own story and not someone else s. Never follow the crowd, be your own writer, yourself.

Listen.

No one takes notice of them. It begins with a simple goodbye to soon or a violent fight, emotions not understood. They walk with us day by day on the streets, stands in line with us at coffee shops and fast food restaurants. They are not the same as us, yet anyone who sees the end result will be asking why, some won't even care and just carry on their normal way.

At night we sleep while they think constantly and screaming in their dreams. They wake up and read the writing once more, or ends the story with a "I will always love u." before placing it, just in case the final whistle blows. It watches them, waiting for the time to take them. What they believed and thought before had disappeared and all that remained was scattered pieces of memory like cloth torn from a dress, hooked on wire hardly moving in the wind. The wind that was behind the sails had gone, and no hope remained.

In their boats they wait for anyone to show, the sun setting like fire in the distance, the end now near. Boats of different colors they were, some more lost and far away from where the sunlight once was before, drifting off to sea, into the mouth of a beast. There are those who wait, those who gives up and those who just don't understand why they are and who they are.

We should ask why if we ever get the chance, we should sail our ship close to theirs and pull them back to shore no matter how hard the waves of the ocean fights back. Their ship is in need of fixing and you know just how to provide the help you can to make it not perfect but bearable. We should do the best we can and avoid the end that steals to soon saying:

"Here lies he who lost all hope and no one heard the cry."

Listen.

Spring clean of a different kind...

Today was all about this and that, chores and more. Some say it's fun doing the things most people do not want to do but I find it calming, it makes you think about times ahead and times that have long since passed. It gives clarity like clean laundry, the smell of the fabric softener, gone is all the dirt and grime just like in the mind. Fold it up neatly and things start falling into place numerically and alphabetically.

The reality is that clothes do not stay clean, the softener does not last and soon you find yourself back to where you started just thinking, waiting for the calm during the storm. Fear can cripple you, it can make you lose sight of all things positive, thoughts, memories. It can infiltrate through even the toughest of skin leaving the stains of its presence behind, stains that does not easily fade after one wash.

We all have them, no matter how neatly packed away or how good it is folded, at times they linger and stay with us, fears. Chores and more needs work, fears needs work, either you get rid of them or feed them, the scars of times past or times to come. Sometimes we feed them because it is so easy to think way ahead into the future forgetting that life is about living for today and not for what is to come a year down the line.

I guess it is true that the mind is a powerful weapon, it can make you or break you and I look at times in mirrors of shadows and find myself lost waiting for the calm during the storm that is life. We all have a choice but the question is how easy is it to make? How easy is it to forget pain, loss, suffering or do we live with the effects each day painting our own pictures in our minds and based on that build our futures.

We all have them... how easy is it?

The door will be unlocked

Hi guys,

It was difficult the first time having to write a short and spending most of my time in front of the PC, not complaining at all because it was worth it in the end. It was a short I did for a N.P.O based in Port Elizabeth focusing on Animal Cruelty, Funds for Furry friends.
But this, this picture is it, my soon to be published first novella in a series of them to follow. It is a Fiction/ Fantasy Novel filled with magic, trials and tribulations and lies.
Please support my page on Facebook as I will be adding more teasers over the next two weeks before the book is published.
